Crystal Lautrup specializes in complex commercial, civil and business litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Ms. Lautrup takes a proactive role in advising her clients and regularly implements cost-effective strategies designed to accomplish the client's objective.
For the past seven years, Ms. Lautrup has devoted a significant portion of her practice to health care. She has extensive experience representing providers, health care service plans and other managed care entities, including HMOs, IPAs, MSOs, PPMs and integrated delivery networks, in complex business litigation. She is well-versed in health care issues pertaining to, inter alia, managed care, utilization review, reimbursement, bad faith, ERISA, hospital-physician risk pools, physician billing practices and claims brought against medical groups and HMO plans for alleged negligent medical care. In addition, Ms. Lautrup regularly advises nonprofit and for-profit health care organizations regarding general risk management issues, reimbursement, licensure issues associated with business transactions, Medicare, Medicaid, fraud and abuse issues and compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
Ms. Lautrup has successfully litigated many cases on behalf of health care clients in trial courts and binding arbitration. She has also represented clients in administrative proceedings before state regulatory agencies, including California's Department of Health Services, Medical Board and Labor Commission.
In addition to health care, Ms. Lautrup has represented clients in complex business litigation and class actions involving bankruptcy issues, insurance bad faith, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, shareholder disputes, fraud, antitrust, unfair competition, trade secret misappropriation and labor issues, including employment discrimination, wrongful termination and wage and hour violations.
