Biography

John Gherini focuses his practice on product liability and other complex litigation, including the defense of consumer product, automobile, pharmaceutical and medical device claims. In that capacity, he has been involved in many phases of the litigation process, from deposing witnesses and arguing motions (including motions for summary judgment), to retaining experts and preparing cases for trial.

As regional counsel for an automobile manufacturer, Mr. Gherini is responsible for the handling and coordination of personal injury and property damage lawsuits in Northern California, Oregon, Washington and Alaska. He has also worked on national pharmaceutical litigation, and in that capacity has participated in the discovery process, evaluated cases and assisted in the coordination of a nationwide settlement class.

Mr. Gherini also participated in a program with the Marin County District Attorney's office that allowed him to serve as a deputy district attorney. There he tried several misdemeanor cases to verdict.

Memberships & Honors

He is a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar Association of California.

While attending the University of San Francisco School of Law, he was the executive director for USF's student-run Moot Court Program, and a finalist in the school's Advocate of the Year Moot Court Competition. Mr. Gherini was also a staff member and writer of the University of San Francisco Law Review. While earning his undergraduate degree at the University of California, San Diego he was also a four year letterman in varsity baseball.
