Sedgwick Wins Diversity Award From California Minority Counsel Program

September 2012

Sedgwick has been named the 2012 recipient of the Drucilla Stender Ramey Majority-Owned Law Firm Award by the California Minority Counsel Program (CMCP). The award  is given to the CMCP majority-owned law firm member that has demonstrated the strongest commitment to diversity based upon the minority attorneys in partnership, leadership and other special roles within the law firm; minority attorneys within the law firm; and community service. This recognition comes on the heels of the August 2012 recognition of the firm by the State Bar of California with the 2012 Diversity Award.

In addition to the CMCP and State Bar of California awards, Sedgwick has been named by The American Lawyer as one of the “Top 40 Firms for Diversity,” achieved a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index for the fourth consecutive year, and attained Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum for the second year in a row.  These accolades come as a result of the creative approach the firm has taken to address the need for greater diversity within the legal profession.

The CMCP promotes and sustains diversity and inclusion in California’s legal profession by providing attorneys of color with access and opportunity for business and professional development. The CMCP Awards were developed to recognize organizations that capture the spirit of the CMCP mission.  Award winners will be recognized during the 23rd Annual CMCP Awards Luncheon on October 10 in San Francisco.
