Swift Justice For Transamerica Corporation

Jackie Jauregui of Sedgwick's Los Angeles Office, ably assisted by Los Angeles associate Karen White, scored a trial victory for Transamerica Corporation and two of its life insurance subsidiaries in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The jury returned a defense verdict in less than 30 minutes in Beardsley v. Transamerica Corporation, a case where a former Transamerica executive who lost his job in a merger made claims of fraud and breach of contract. Plaintiff contended he was owed as much as $3.9 million in severance pay, a number that diminished substantially in the wake of cross examination of plaintiff's expert. Sedgwick is now pursuing an award of attorney's fees on Transamerica's behalf.
