Press Release - Austin Community Honors Sedgwick Attorney With Prestigious Award
April 2007
Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold LLP announced that Austin attorney Catherine Robb received the Austin Under 40 (AU40) Community Service Award; given to those whose extraordinary professional success parallels their outstanding dedication to the community. The Young Men's Business League and Young Women's Alliance hosted the ninth annual AU40 awards event at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum.
"The truth is that the Austin community has given more to me than I could ever return," said Robb. "I am deeply honored to receive this award, and look forward to continued involvement in this wonderful community."
In her nomination letter, Texas Monthly Editor Evan Smith described Robb as, "Tireless and fearless, with limitless compassion and commitment to good causes."
KLRU (Austin PBS affiliate) CEO and President Bill Stotesbery, who works alongside Robb on the KLRU Board, noted Robb's willingness to tackle tough issues and her impressive work ethic. Local Austin attorney James Parsons remarked on Robb's continuation of her grandfather, Lyndon Baines Johnson's legacy. He said, "For those that knew LBJ, his greatest concern as President was to help the poor of this country and to fight the injustice ... Catherine really does have the best qualities of her grandfather."
Robb has a long-standing history of exceptional commitment to the community. In addition to serving on the board, Executive Committee and other committees of KLRU, she is also a board member of The American Heart Association (Capital Area Division), the Austin Music Foundation, the Austin Film Society, and the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law. Robb also serves on the Advisory Board of the Ann Richards School For Young Women Leaders, is an active member of Leadership Austin, The Seton Forum, is the founder and chairman of the LBJ Library Future Forum, and a director of The Austin Council of Foreign Affairs. Moreover, Robb volunteers for several non-profits in the community, including Shoes For Austin, Reading is Fundamental of Austin, and Volunteer Legal Services.
After earning a B.A. from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from The University of Texas, with honors, Robb built her practice serving clients in the broadcast industry. As a special counsel based in Sedgwick's Austin office, Robb focuses her practice on commercial and business litigation, First Amendment litigation, pre-publication review and editing, copyright and trademark litigation, general commercial litigation, open government issues and privacy concerns.
