Jim Nations serves as the Director of Operations – East which includes responsibility for administrative oversight of the eastern portion of the Firm’s offices. In this capacity, Jim interfaces with the eastern offices' Directors of Administration, the firm’s senior management team and the firm’s Chair.
Jim Nations serves as the Director of Operations – East which includes responsibility for administrative oversight of the eastern portion of the Firm’s offices. In this capacity, Jim interfaces with the eastern offices' Directors of Administration, the firm’s senior management team and the firm’s Chair.
Jim is also responsible for all business operations of the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office, including budgeting, human resources, recruiting and facilities management. A certified public accountant, he previously served as the chief operating officer of Gordon, Hargrove and James and, with all the attorneys of that firm, joined Sedgwick in January 2009.
While at Gordon, Hargrove and James, Jim was instrumental in the development of firm’s succession plan, and in the management of the firm’s facilities, including lease negotiations, build-out and physical move. He also designed the firm’s business continuity plan, including off-site servers and alternative operations plan, and implemented technology to meet legal profession best practices. He previously served in various capacities at AutoNation, Inc., the largest auto retailer in the United States.

Mr. Nations is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and currently serves on the audit committee of United Way of Broward County. He also has served as a board member and audit committee member of several nonprofit civic, professional and charitable organizations.
