Biography

A native Californian, Beth Yoffie attended University of California, Berkeley, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1982.  She earned her Juris Doctor degree from University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in 1985.  Beth externed for Justice William R. Channel, California Court of Appeal, First District, and was admitted to the California Bar in 1985. 

Over the past 28 years, Ms. Yoffie has authored more that a thousand coverage opinions analyzing a huge variety of coverage issues presented under D&O, E&O, fidelity, general liability, homeowner, jewelers block, auto liability, and property and casualty policies, including claims arising from Ponzi schemes, employment liability, personal and advertising injury liability, professional negligence, environmental contamination, soils subsidence, earthquake, fire, mold, construction defect, intellectual property, and securities and antitrust litigation.  Ms. Yoffie’s experience also includes providing advice concerning and litigation of matters involving life, health, disability and ERISA, health care service plans, PPOs, life insurance disputes, and CIGA.  She has drafted over a thousand denial and reservation of rights letters and litigated matters involving fraud and rescission, interpleader, insurance coverage, and bad faith in state and federal courts, from inception through trial or arbitration. 

Ms. Yoffie has drafted insurance policy language and insurer policies and procedures.

Ms. Yoffie also represented a Palo Alto businessman in a defamation lawsuit against Izvestia and several Foreign Trading Organizations of the former USSR involving, among other things, intervention by the U.S. Department of State on behalf of the USSR; and the estate of a murdered woman in a civil “murder” case, which ultimately led to the decedent’s husband’s criminal conviction of murder.  She has represented numerous children in proceedings to obtain legal residency in the United States on a pro bono basis.
