Biography

Duncan Strachan represents clients in the London market on insurance and reinsurance coverage matters.  He specializes in advising on the energy and construction sectors, particularly international casualty and property risks.

Mr Strachan is fluent in Spanish and deals regularly with the local market across South America.  He is experienced in advising on procedural and coverage issues in the key jurisdictions, including Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina and Venezuela.

As well as his broad international experience, Mr Strachan advises clients on commercial disputes in the UK.  He has advised on construction disputes, product liability claims and product recalls. 

Representative Work

Recent examples of work include:

• Managing the defence of class actions in Colombia arising from significant casualties caused by a terrorist attack to a pipeline operated by a company part-owned by BP and Total.
• Advising London market insurers on the original policy and reinsurance cover for the effects of a large oil spillage in Chile.
