Gregory Halliday, chair of the firm’s Professional Liability Practice Group and an active trial attorney, practices in the areas of professional errors and omissions, and insurance litigation.
Mr. Halliday defends attorneys, accountants, securities broker dealers, insurance agents and brokers, and commercial real estate brokers sued for malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty and fraud arising out of a broad range of underlying transactional and litigated matters.
Mr. Halliday has also successfully defended insurance carriers in coverage and bad faith actions.
Because of his trial experience, Mr. Halliday is often retained by corporate defendants as well as insurance carriers to defend high exposure cases venued throughout Southern California.
Representative Matters

Obtained a jury defense verdict in a legal malpractice case arising out of the sale of a multi-million dollar mortgage services company to an internet start-up company.

Obtained dismissals with prejudice after trial started but before plaintiffs completed their case-in-chief in two legal malpractice cases. In each case, the plaintiff had demanded the defendant attorney’s policy limits prior to trial.

Obtained a jury defense verdict in favor of an insurance agent who was sued by his client for not obtaining a $2 million life insurance policy for the client's family member.

Prevailed on appeal from trial court rulings on demurrers and motions for summary judgment in professional liability and insurance bad faith cases.
Affiliations, Activities and Accomplishments
Mr. Halliday is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the Legal Malpractice Section of the American Bar Association and the Association of Insurance Defense Counsel of Southern California. He is admitted to practice in the California state courts and in the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts.

Educational Accomplishments
Mr. Halliday received a B.A. (1974), with distinction, from Stanford University. He received his J.D. (1978) from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he was Articles Editor of the Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly. While in law school, he externed for the Honorable Spencer J. Williams for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
