Jason McNerlin’s practice is focused on the property and casualty sectors, and includes a broad spectrum of insurance and reinsurance coverage disputes, as well as product recall, guarantee and liability issues. Mr McNerlin has drafted, and advised insurers on, numerous product recall and contaminated products insurance policies, and has worked on secondment to a Lloyd’s syndicate.
Mr McNerlin advises London Market and New York insurers in a range of liability cases. He recently advised US CGL insurers on English litigation arising from industrial fire damage, valued at over £100m. He advised the excess liability insurers of Bedfordshire Police Authority in the Yarl’s Wood riot damage claim, and recently advised London Market insurers in relation to global automotive recalls involving Renault and Nissan.
He is currently advising insurers on a wide variety of international matters, including recalls of various food, pharmaceutical and packaging products, the European horsemeat scandal, cell phone radiation injury litigation in the US and Canada, a gas explosion in Chile, and the Cologne City Archive collapse, which has given rise to losses estimated at over €1bn.
Mr McNerlin advises producers, suppliers and insurers on product safety regulation and crisis management, and also acts on their behalf in commercial disputes.
