Karen K. Maston is the Managing Partner of the Houston office. Over her 25-year legal career, Ms. Maston has represented defendants in trial and appellate work in state and federal courts concerning issues relating to environmental and toxic tort, commercial, product liability, personal injury, wrongful death and property damage. She has tried numerous cases to successful defense verdicts in Texas, Mississippi and Louisina. Ms. Maston served for 14 years as the National Coordinating Counsel for a manufacturer of health and safety equipment. She provides substantive legal expertise such as participation in the selection of experts for the majority of the cases and presenting and defending experts and corporate representatives in cases throughout the United States.

Affiliations, Activities and Accomplishments
Ms. Maston has served as the coordinator for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (“NITA”) Program for Trial Associates; is a certified mediator by the American Academy of Attorney-Mediators, Inc.; is a past treasurer of the Association of Women Attorneys Foundation Board; served as an adjunct professor in Trial Advocacy in the Fall of 2008; is a member of the State Bar of Texas and Houston Bar Association. Ms. Maston is also admitted to practice in West Virginia and Mississippi, and is a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America Trial Lawyer Honorary Society.
She has served on Texas’ Court Rules Committee, the Committee on Professionalism, the Child Abuse and Neglect Committee and the Special Olympics Committee for the State Bar of Texas.
She is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) and served as a member of the 2006 IADC Trial Academy Faculty at Stanford University. She is a past board member of the Arthritis Foundation – Gulf Coast Chapter and serves on The Law Advisory Board for Children at Risk. She is a Certified Occupational Therapist.
Ms. Maston is nominated for Best Lawyers of America 2012-13 and holds an AV preeminent rating.
