Martin J. Healy focuses his practice on complex litigation, including class actions and multi-district litigation, in state and federal courts across the country. He specializes in the defense of drug and medical device and toxic tort claims and has managed national litigation for global pharmaceutical and engineering companies. In this role, Mr. Healy has been responsible for thousands of cases, filed in numerous jurisdictions, from initial pleadings through trial.

He specializes in the defense of drug and medical device and toxic tort claims and has managed national litigation for global pharmaceutical and engineering companies. In this role, Mr. Healy has been responsible for thousands of cases, filed in numerous jurisdictions, from initial pleadings through trial.
Mr. Healy also has significant experience defending class actions. As part of a team responsible for the defense of multiple nationwide class actions, he has worked on all phases of class litigation - from initial counseling and crisis management, to the development of trial and motion strategies for defeating class certification, to the application of settlement strategies for obtaining the approval of a nationwide class settlement.
In addition to litigation, Mr. Healy counsels clients on risk avoidance, risk management, regulatory compliance and document retention and management issues. Mr. Healy chairs Sedgwick’s e-Discovery Task Force where he is responsible for providing advice and guidance to the firm’s clients on e-discovery matters.
Prior to joining Sedgwick, Mr. Healy was a trial attorney for general practice and insurance defense firms where he handled a wide variety of cases and gained significant jury trial experience. He has tried multiple cases to verdict and has personally handled all aspects of litigation, including the retention and development of scientific and medical experts.

Mr. Healy is a member of State Bars of New Jersey (1993), Pennsylvania (1993) and New York (2004). He is admitted before the U.S. District Courts for the Districts of New Jersey (1993) and Colorado (2004). Mr. Healy is also a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), the Defense Research Institute (DRI), the New Jersey Bar Association, the New York Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Essex County Bar Association and the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey (TANJ).
