Biography

Michael A. Topp has broad experience advising and representing insurers on first party and third party coverage matters. Mr. Topp presently focuses his practice on providing claims counseling and representation on issues arising under commercial general liability policies, commercial auto policies, commercial excess and personal umbrella policies, commercial property policies, and various specialty liability coverages. His areas of special emphasis include environmental coverage, construction defect coverage, and personal and advertising injury coverage. He has litigated bad faith and coverage actions involving a wide range of issues, including property damage and business interruption claims under first party policies; ERISA benefits claims; and claims for defense and indemnity under third party liability policies.

Mr. Topp is a member of the American Bar Association, Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section, as well as the Property Claims Association of the Pacific.

While attending law school, he was an executive editor of the Ecology Law Quarterly.
