Press Release - American Business Women’s Association Asks Orange County Attorneys to Build Its Newest Chapter
October 2006
Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold LLP announced attorneys Alexandra Wilcox and Deanna Spelber were appointed by the American Business Women's Association's (ABWA) Newport Beach chapter to vice presidents of programming and finance respectively. Founded in 1949, the ABWA was created to offer business development training and networking opportunities to the record number of women who had entered the American workforce during WWII. Now well into its fifth decade, the ABWA has hundreds of chapters across the country, including it's newest chapter in Newport Beach, which offers monthly meetings centered on educational, networking and fund-raising programs.
"I am continually inspired and mentored by the partners in my firm," said Wilcox, who sits on the board of Sedgwick's Women's Forum and focuses her practice on business and commercial litigation, employment and labor law, products liability and general liability. "I am grateful for the opportunity to educate, mentor and inspire other women, and expose them to the critical components of professional development."
"I look forward to using the insights and skills I've gained through Sedgwick Women's Forum to broaden the professional opportunities for woman in Orange County," added Spelber, who specializes her practice in general liability, toxic tort, and products liability. Spelber and Wilcox are both active in Sedgwick Women's Forum, one of the firm's professional development initiatives which fosters professional growth and networking opportunities for women, and addresses the unique challenges professional women face.
"Alexandra and Deanna exemplify Sedgwick's dedication to developing attorneys' talent, drive and leadership within the community," said Curtis Parvin, managing partner of Sedgwick's Orange County office.
