Biography
Nicholas J. Boos is a member of Sedgwick’s Insurance Practices Group. He represents and counsels insurers in first- and third- party coverage and bad faith matters under personal and commercial lines. His experience covers a variety of claims, including commercial general liability, first-party property, business interruption, inland marine, disability, and life insurance.

His experience covers a variety of claims, including commercial general liability, first-party property, business interruption, inland marine, disability, and life insurance.
Mr. Boos' recent matters include:
- Obtained partial summary judgment for property insurer on claims for breach of contract and bad faith.
- Represented commercial general liability insurer in declaratory relief action involving thousands of asbestos liability claims.

Represented commercial general liability insurer in breach of contract and bad faith action arising out of construction project disputes.

Part of team representing reinsurers in the investigation and adjustment of large commercial property claim.

Represented commercial general liability insurer in breach of contract and bad faith action arising out of trade dress infringement claim.

Represented commercial general liability insurer in declaratory relief action arising from underlying personal injury claim.

Defended homeowners’ insurer in equitable contribution action arising out of fire loss.

Represented insurers in appraisal proceedings arising out of first- party claims under builder’s risk and homeowner’s policies.

Represented insurer in breach of contract and bad faith action arising out of issuance of annuity contracts.
Affiliations, Activities and Accomplishments
Mr. Boos presents annual certification seminars to insurers regarding the California Fair Claims Settlement Practices Regulations. He is also a co-chair of the Additional Insured Subcommittee of the American Bar Association’s Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee, and a former co-chair of the Bad Faith Subcommittee.
Mr. Boos handles pro bono matters through Legal Services for Children.
During law school, he served as a judicial extern for Joyce L. Kennard, Associate Justice for the California Supreme Court. He was also a member of the U.S.F. Law Review, and a Faculty Scholarship recipient.
