Biography
Neil Rambin is a civil trial attorney with more than 30 years of experience representing clients in the areas of complex commercial insurance litigation, insurance coverage disputes, extra-contractual claims and disputes between insurance and reinsurance companies. Mr. Rambin is familiar with the various policies from which such claims and disputes have arisen, including general liability, professional liability (agents, attorneys, hospital, intellectual property, technology, etc.), property, aviation, workers’ compensation, fidelity, automobile, excess liability, umbrella and surplus lines.
Neil Rambin is a civil trial attorney with more than 30 years of experience representing clients in the areas of complex commercial insurance litigation, insurance coverage disputes, extra-contractual claims and disputes between insurance and reinsurance companies. Mr. Rambin is familiar with the various policies from which such claims and disputes have arisen, including general liability, professional liability (agents, attorneys, hospital, intellectual property, technology, etc.), property, aviation, workers’ compensation, fidelity, automobile, excess liability, umbrella and surplus lines.
Mr. Rambin also gives advice and counsel to insurers and reinsurers regarding their coverage obligations and the avoidance of bad faith claims. Although resident in Texas, his practice is national in scope as he has litigated matters in California, Oregon, New Mexico, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and Massachusetts.
While Chairman of Sedgwick’s Insurance Practices Group, Mr. Rambin coordinated the firm’s representation of a diverse base of insurance clients in Sedgwick’s domestic and international offices. As the current head of the firm’s Reinsurance Group, Mr. Rambin manages the firm’s representation of both reinsureds and reinsurers in matters arising out of reinsurance agreements.
Litigation Matters
A representative sampling of Mr. Rambin’s litigation accomplishments includes:
- Jury verdict of no liability for claim of fraud and bad faith against property insurance carrier;
- Jury verdict of no liability for reinsurer based upon accord and satisfaction defense;
- Successful arbitration of dispute regarding insurance policy interpretation resulting in a determination of no coverage under an errors and omissions policy;
- Successful representation of a reinsurer in an arbitration regarding coverage for the extent of loss covered by the reinsured umbrella policies, including the recovery of attorneys’ fees:
- Successful representation of a reinsurer in an arbitrated dispute with a reinsured over the allocation of loss among various general liability policies;
- Entry of summary judgment of no coverage for a reinsurer of a captive insurance company on a hospital professional liability policy;
- Entry of summary judgment for a third party administrator on a malpractice claim.
Affiliations, Activities and Accomplishments
Mr. Rambin is the former Chairman of the Extra-Contractual Liability Section of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, and is a member of the Defense Research Institute, ARIAS-US, the Dallas Bar Association and the Texas Bar Foundation.
Mr. Rambin has received numerous recognitions, such as being included in The Best Lawyers in America® in the practice areas of Insurance Law and Commercial Litigation, being named a “Texas SuperLawyer” by Texas Monthly and a “Best Lawyer in Dallas” by D Magazine.

Mr. Rambin has written papers for and participated as a lecturer in numerous continuing education courses as well as seminars sponsored by the FDCC, DRI and the University of Texas School of Law.
