Biography

Peter Messrobian represents energy companies, chemical companies, airlines, developers and other firms in personal injury, products liability, general liability and environmental compliance matters.  He has extensive experience litigating complex, multi-party disputes involving serious personal injuries.

Litigation Matters

• Currently defends a large utility in cases involving electrical contact, alleged carbon monoxide poisoning, and damage to utility equipment.
• Recently assisted in obtaining summary judgment on behalf of a utility in an electrical contact matter.
• Significant experience defending a major pharmaceutical firm in mass tort cases.
• Defended an auto manufacturer in products liability cases which typically involved serious injuries or death.
• Defended a tobacco firm in personal injury and wrongful death cases.

Environmental Matters

• Regularly provides advice and assists with matters ranging from obtaining variances from environmental regulations to responding to notices of violation.
• Served as co-counsel for utility during multi-year quasi-legislative process which resulted in first major update to general order governing the construction of overhead electrical distribution facilities in the State of California.

Publications

Mr. Messrobian’s 2008 article on carbon finance “Cap and Trade: A Creative Source of Finance for Green Technologies” was published in the ABA publication Trends. He also co-authored an article on AB 32, the recently enacted California climate change legislation; a chapter on discovery in limited civil discovery for the CEB guide to civil discovery, and provided input on the chapter on interrogatories in the same guide.
