Sedgwick Expands East Coast Corporate Practice

Partner Joins Sedgwick’s New York

NEW YORK, May 6, 2009 - Sedgwick Detert Moran & Arnold LLP announced that corporate attorney Lori Smith, formerly of Goodwin Procter, has joined Sedgwick. Smith will be based in the firm’s New York office.

Sedgwick’s corporate practice is comprised of attorneys experienced all aspects of corporate and commercial law including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, finance, venture capital, business transactions, and commercial contracts. The group provides public and private clients from a diverse range of industries and at all stages of development, with the information and analysis needed to address the legal issues arising out of their business operations.

Smith brings more than 25 years of experience to Sedgwick. She has handled all aspects of corporate and commercial transactional work, corporate governance matters and negotiation of commercial agreements. She has represented foreign and domestic companies in a wide range of industries, including technology, media, financial services, food and beverage, sports, textile, fashion, and specialty chemicals. Smith also has significant experience advising companies through all stages of development as outside general counsel; planning for a public offering, sale, acquisition or merger; and on all aspects of business operations. She earned her J.D. with high honors from Duke University School of Law and received her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Rochester.
