Former Executive v. Public Financial Company
December 2005
Plaintiff, a former employee who lost his executive position in a merger, sought upwards of $3 million in severance from his former employer, a major insurance company. At trial, Sedgwick obtained a unanimous defense verdict, and recovered attorney’s fees. Sedgwick prevailed again on appeal, and again recovered attorney’s fees for the appeal. After being served with a notice of debtor’s examination and told an order of garnishment would be served on his employer, plaintiff wired the entire attorney fee award, in excess of $335,000.
