Injured Worker v. Construction Company

Sedgwick successfully obtained an appellate verdict for our client in a construction dispute. The Third Court of Appeals in Austin affirmed a directed verdict from a 2004 jury trial in Tom Green County.  Sedgwick handled both trial and appeal. Plaintiff, an injured construction worker, sued the general contractor on the job, seeking recovery for significant damages.  The trial court and court of appeals held that a general contractor is not liable for injuries to subcontractors when the general does not control the means, methods and details of the work being done.
