Plaintiff v. Wire and Cable Distribution Company
November 2009
Sedgwick negotiated a favorable resolution for our client, a wire and cable distribution company, in this action. The plaintiff filed suit alleging that our client stole trade secrets, interfered with contracts and hatched a scheme to disparage the plaintiff, resulting in a loss in profits and causing economic damage. In order to ascertain the plaintiff’s claim for damages, Sedgwick propounded document requests seeking financial, accounting and tax information. The few documents produced minimally supported the plaintiff’s claim. Sedgwick then filed a motion to compel further production of documents, which led the plaintiff to lower his demand. The parties resolved the dispute for a fraction of the demand.
