Plaintiffs v. TV Station

Sedgwick won a major summary judgment victory for a Texas TV station in a defamation lawsuit filed in the District Court of Nueces County, Texas.  The station had been sued for libel by a city official, the city official’s brother and the brother’s company for a broadcast regarding an investigation by police and FBI for bribery and abuse of office.  However, the charges against the city official were later dropped.  Sedgwick had initially been brought into the case to assist local counsel, but assumed primary control of the defense and drafted and argued the summary judgment motion.
