Pro Bono Adoption Proceeding
March 2012
Sedgwick represented a client in the successful adoption of her 13-year-old daughter. The child was diagnosed with depression in 2009 and struggled with her behavior at school. She also appeared to have an intensive mental health need, which caused impairment at school, home and in the community. This pro bono matter was obtained through the Public Counsel Children's Rights’ Adoptions Project, a Southern California project designed to assist prospective adoptive parents who wish to adopt children who are currently under the jurisdiction of the Dependency Court.
