Robert M. Gilmartin, Jr. joined Sedgwick’s New Jersey office in 2002. Mr. Gilmartin represents clients in products liability, asbestos litigation, construction litigation, personal injury and premises liability matters. He is experienced in deposition practice, arguing motions, and advocating interests of his clients at mediation and arbitration hearings, as well as in court conferences and settlement conferences. He has served as second chair in asbestos trials.

Prior to joining Sedgwick, Mr. Gilmartin was a litigator for a mid-size insurance defense firm.
Memberships & Honors
Mr. Gilmartin is a member of the state bars of New York and New Jersey. Additionally, he is admitted to practice in all U.S. District Courts within New York and New Jersey. He currently serves on behalf of the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a member of the District (5A) Ethics Committee. He is also a member of the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey (TANJ). In addition, Mr. Gilmartin is a 2007 and 2011 graduate of Sedgwick’s Trial Academy, and was a pupil of the Justice Morris Pashman American Inn of Court for the 2000-2002 session. He clerked for the Honorable Robert E. Hamer, J.S.C. (New Jersey State Superior Court) during the 1998-1999 Term.
In furtherance of Sedgwick’s pro bono commitment and activities, Mr. Gilmartin also serves as a liaison between the firm and St. John’s Soup Kitchen in Newark, New Jersey.
