Sedgwick Earns "Gold Standard Certification" for the Second Consecutive Year

June 2012

Sedgwick has, for the second consecutive year, earned the "Gold Standard Certification" from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF). This is the only existing objective assessment of law firms that demonstrates which law firms in the United States have successfully integrated women partners in top leadership positions.

Sedgwick will be honored for the accomplishments leading to its WILEF certification at the Gold Standard Awards Luncheon in September at the Yale Club in New York City.
WILEF invited more than 300 law firms with 100 or more attorneys to apply for this certification and Sedgwick is one of only 50 firms that met the criteria necessary to receive the gold standard certification. The organization reviewed several benchmarks to measure women’s access to key leadership positions within each firm. WILEF reviewed the actual percentages of women equity partners, women partners in specific key leadership roles and women among the most highly compensated partners at each firm as it separated those firms that delivered on their commitment to women from those who merely expressed good intentions or plans to do better in the future.

In 2011, Sedgwick was only one of 32 firms that met the criteria. This increase in qualifying law firms from 32 to 50 this year is a notable accomplishment for women in the profession.

Sedgwick’s extraordinary consecutive year achievement is a credit to the hard work of Sedgwick's women and the longstanding support and encouragement from firm leadership and everyone at the firm. Together we have created a culture that attracts and retains the best women attorneys and have established programs that assist them in advancing their careers.
