Sedgwick Elevates Six New Partners

Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold elevated six attorneys into the firm's partnership effective January 1, 2004.
The newly elevated partners are Robert Berg, Matthew Fischer, Mark Hancock and Brian Harrison of the San Francisco office, Lori Blitstien of the Los Angeles office, and Eric Scheiner of the Chicago.
Robert Berg, a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, focuses his practice on insurance coverage. Mr. Berg, a resident of the San Francisco office, frequently addresses professional groups regarding insurance coverage issues.
Matthew Fischer practices in the firm's Business Litigation and Antitrust Litigation practice groups in the San Francisco office. His area of concentration includes antitrust, unfair competition, intellectual property and complex commercial litigation, including class actions and multi-district litigation. Mr. Fischer represents regional, national and international corporations against claims of price fixing, monopolization and unfair competition in the energy, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. He is a graduate of the University of California, Boalt Hall School of Law.
Mark Hancock of the San Francisco office, devotes a major portion of his practice to the defense of professional liability claims on behalf of attorneys and other professionals. In addition, Hancock handles complex business litigation for individuals, partnerships and corporations. He is a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
Brian Harrison, of the San Francisco office, is a University of Santa Clara School of Law graduate. Harrison concentrates his practice in insurance coverage and bad faith litigation. He has also tried cases to verdict in the areas of employment, product liability and personal injury in various jurisdictions in Northern California.
In the Los Angeles office, Lori Blitstien's practice emphasizes professional liability, including the defense of lawyers and law firms, insurance agents and brokers, financial advisers, and securities dealers and agents. She has served as a panelist and guest speaker for various bar associations and groups on federal court practice and procedure. Blitstien, a graduate of the Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, currently serves as a settlement referee for the Superior Court of California.
In the Chicago office, Eric Scheiner's practice focuses on coverage matters, with a concentration on directors and officers liability, professional liability, employment practices liability and general liability policies, as well as issues pertaining to reinsurance. Scheiner is a member of The Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) and of the Tort and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association. He is a graduate cum laude from The John Marshall Law School.
