Sedgwick Proudly Supports National Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Several Fronts
October 2011
October marked a very busy month for the Sedgwick Women's Forum as it is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout the course of the month, the Women's Forum hosted several events in support of the cause.
Lee Denim Jeans Day:
On October 6, Sedgwick recognized Lee National Denim Day®, one of the largest single-day fundraisers for breast cancer research. 233 Sedgwick employees joined in the fight against breast cancer by wearing jeans and making a donation.
Susan G. Komen:
Race for the Cure – Orange County: More than 60 Sedgwick Orange County personnel, family and friends participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K event, which was held on September 25, 2011 in Newport Beach, California. For Sedgwick Orange County, this year's event was especially meaningful as associate Sheyanne Bane is courageously battling breast cancer. Sheyanne, who is also a Women's Forum representative, has been the office organizer of the event for the past four years. Sheyanne led the team, which proudly wore "Team Sheyanne" t-shirts and wristbands across the finish line.
Race for the Cure – Houston: A team of 14 Sedgwick Houston attorneys, staff, family and friends joined nearly 38,000 participants in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in downtown Houston on October 1, 2011. The team was dressed in "Team Sedgwick" wristbands, t-shirts and tennis shoe laces for the race. This 5K event is Houston's most popular race. Two days prior to the event, the Sedgwick Houston Women's Forum hosted "Project Think Pink," a client kickoff reception held at Gravitas Restaurant, to show support and cheer on the race participants.
Think Pink Bake Sale: The Los Angeles Women's Forum sponsored a Think Pink Bake sale during a Halloween lunch. The proceeds were donated to the Komen foundation. Items were baked both staff and attorneys located in the Los Angeles office.
