Sugayan, Benson Named ‘Most Powerful and Influential Women’ by National Diversity Council

Sedgwick partners Catalina Sugayan and Roberta Benson have been named “Most Powerful and Influential Women” by the National Diversity Council, an organization that champions diversity as a business imperative, and whose mission is to be a resource and an advocate for the value of diversity and inclusion. This award is given annually to women who excel in their field of expertise.
Sugayan was named one of the “Most Powerful and Influential Women of Illinois.” She is the managing partner of the Chicago office of Sedgwick LLP, where her practice concentrates on insurance coverage and litigation. She represents leading U.S. and London insurers providing primary, excess and reinsurance coverage to municipalities, school districts, churches and other entities. She has substantial experience in coverage analysis and litigation involving civil rights, employment law, personal injury, land use, professional liability and bad faith. She is an active member of the firm’s Diversity Committee, the Association of Professional Insurance Women and the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms.
Benson was named to the list of “Most Powerful and Influential Women of Texas.” Benson is a partner in the firm’s Austin office, where she concentrates her litigation practice on representation of professional liability, fidelity, and D&O insurers in both coverage litigation and claims defense and management. Benson’s broad-based litigation experience also includes first-party defense of disability, life and property insurers in coverage and extracontractual claims as well as in class actions and multidistrict litigation, in state court, federal court, and in arbitrations.
